A BOOKSTORE WITH A VISION

At a time of major economic crisis, two U.S. occupations, millions worldwide literally starving... a time also marked by major shifts in the thinking of people as to what is possible for humanity, Revolution Books sits on the cusp: It’s the place to find the books, the ideas, the revolutionary ferment to understand the world and radically change it. On its communist foundation, Revolution Books offers a diverse and cutting-edge collection of books on history, politics, philosophy, economics, revolutionary theory, science, ecology, the arts, religion and atheism, as well as a selection of fiction and poetry.

Revolution is Needed… Revolution is Possible

Never before have so many understood that the planet itself is in peril from the workings of capital; never before has production been so global with the capacity to meet the basic needs of all of humanity; never before have so many known of the vast depredation existing amidst such obscene wealth. The world does not have to be this way! The potential for a new cooperative world where all of the world's people could flourish stands in stark relief to the wars, torture, brutality, deprivation and the dog-eat-dog ethos of capitalism.

A Radical Re-Envisioning of Revolution and Communism

Revolution Books proceeds from an understanding that the problem in today’s world is capitalism/imperialism, it will take a revolution to get rid of this people-crushing system, socialism is much better than capitalism, and communism will be a far better world.

At the heart of Revolution Books is the work of Bob Avakian. His radical re-envisioning of revolution and communism goes beyond even the best of previous socialist societies—and is as viable as it is liberating. Bob Avakian is the leader of the Revolutionary Communist Party, USA and, in the process of developing his new synthesis of the communist project, has provided fresh and provocative thinking on art, culture, science, philosophy…and revolution.

An Inspiring Venue—An “Audience” of Critical Thinkers

Revolution Books aims to be a new revolutionary center of inquiry and ferment - a space where you will find people from a wide range of ages and backgrounds engaging in dialogue, discussing events of the day, watching cutting edge movies or listening to author and poetry readings—a place where a re-envisioned revolutionary communism interacts and mixes it up with all the streams of progressive, radical, and revolutionary intellectual life.

We invite you to bring your own perspectives, insights, and creativity into the revolutionary movement. Dissent, debate and controversy are not only tolerated at Revolution Books, but encouraged as part of the rich process out of which the greatest truth and ability to transform reality will emerge. We welcome the tough questions and seek out the opportunity to engage with the most effective proponents of a wide range of ideas.

"In a world marked by profound class divisions and social inequality, to talk about “democracy”— without talking about the class nature of that democracy and which class it serves—is meaningless, and worse. So long as society is divided into classes, there can be no “democracy for all”: one class or another will rule, and it will uphold and promote that kind of democracy which serves its interests and goals. The question is: which class will rule and whether its rule, and its system of democracy, will serve the continuation, or the eventual abolition, of class divisions and the corresponding relations of exploitation, oppression and inequality."
